If y'all're looking for things to do in Baltimore with kids this weekend, this postal service has you covered! We just took our first family trip there final weekend.

Here are the elevation 3 attractions nosotros found and what I'll be going into detail about:

  1. The Maryland Zoo
  2. Port Discovery Children'southward Museum
  3. The Aquarium

We stayed at the Renaissance Harbor Identify Hotel which is the BEST location for a family weekend in Baltimore, specifically the Inner Harbor.

It's directly across the street from the Inner Harbor which means y'all don't have to drive (aka worry well-nigh parking) or take a taxi (aka worry about car seats). We didn't spend much fourth dimension at the hotel but information technology was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

All-time Things To Practise In Baltimore With Kids

i.) The Maryland Zoo

We arrived for our weekend in Baltimore early on a Friday afternoon. Instead of going to the hotel, we went direct to the Maryland Zoo. If y'all're hitting Baltimore with toddlers, it's a must-see.

I was anticipating it being pretty busy with school trips but it was actually COMPLETELY EMPTY! There were so few people that I wasn't even sure if the restaurants were open up (they were). We were able to walk the entire park in nigh 2 hours and didn't take to wait in any lines.

If you can get into the zoo on a weekday as we did, I highly suggest visiting.

Overall thoughts on the Zoo
: It's perfect for all ages so it's a good experience for everyone. I label information technology as a must-see (but and so again I beloved the zoo!)

2.) Port Discovery Children's Museum

The museum is filled with 3 stories of interactive games, activities, and exhibits for young children. Some of the rooms include a Diner, Gas Station, Grocery Store, etc.

The kids had and then much fun running around and experimenting with everything. If yous've ever been to the Please Bear upon Museum in Philadelphia it is VERY similar.

If you go on a weekend I suggest getting there when it opens. I read that it gets really packed so we got there before the doors opened. At that place was a line but nosotros simply had to wait a few minutes and the kids were able to enjoy themselves inside without information technology being also crowded. We were too able to enjoy watching them without the fright of losing them for 2 hours.

Port Discovery Children's Museum

Overall thoughts on Port Discovery: It'south a must-encounter if y'all accept young children.

Historic Ships

After Port Discovery and lunch (meet below for more nearly where we ate) we walked beyond to tour some of the historic ships at the harbor (less than a x-minute walk).

Personally, if y'all have young children every bit we do I would skip the ships. Our four-year-sometime was scared the entire fourth dimension (some are quite bars) and our 3-year old just wanted to run. It didn't exactly create the near enjoyable experience.

Baltimore Aquarium

We managed to fit the aquarium into our second day as well since it's directly next to the ships.  There are three of import things you should know about the aquarium:

  1.  It's non that large
  2.  It was CRAZY CROWDED
  3. It is dark AF in some areas.

It's really nothing special in my opinion. Or maybe I've simply been to some actually peachy aquariums… For $forty admission per person, I judge I was expecting a bit more.

It was so crowded to the betoken where you lot couldn't even get to the glass to see the fish. At every single step yous were bumping into the person next to you and in that location were swarms of people everywhere. I should note, we did proceed a weekend.

I was also surprised that a REALLY large function of the aquarium is substantially pitch black. Non exactly fun (or safe) when y'all've got toddlers.

Maybe I just accept a narrow view because I'm a mom to 2 young kids but I ever think of aquariums as being super kid-friendly. Information technology'southward pretty difficult to continue your eyes on a toddler who has ants in his pants when it's pitch black.

Overall thoughts on the Aquarium: I wouldn't go back to the aquarium until the kids are older. I also don't remember it's that dandy of an aquarium for the cost.

Chessie Paddle Boats

Our girl picked a purple Chessie Monster of course but we but lasted almost 30 seconds. It was worth the try though.

If your kids are a trivial flake older I call up it would exist really fun for them! For the smaller kids, it's a lilliputian boring since they can't really help paddle the boat.

Whe re To Eat With Kids In Baltimore

Miss Shirley's Cafe

Miss Shirley's is a breakfast , brunch, and lunch restaurant with a 2-hr wait if you don't get in that location early on!

I read and heard so many great things virtually this restaurant so I was really excited to check it out. I LO

VED that they gave each child an compose-a-sketch at the table! The novelty wore off rapidly but it was all the same fun.

We all chose pretty basic dishes but the options are endless. Have a peek at the bill of fare below. Mike got the Chocolate Covered Pretzel Hot Cocoa and it looked a m a z i n g!

Visiting Miss Shirley'southward Buffet

Overall thoughts on Miss Shirley'southward : If y'all can get there early enough to not look for hours and then yes, definitely get! However, if y'all aren't a big foodie and programme to gild your usual salary and eggs AND there is a long await then no, I wouldn't wait long.

Blue Moon Cafe

Another popular striking from "Diner's, Bulldoze-In's and Dives". We had been here earlier but before nosotros had kids. It was just equally expert as we remembered with favorites like the Captain Crunch French Toast.

Merely a fair warning if you've never been – information technology is tiny. It's not the kind of identify where the kids can run around. If you take piffling ones who can't sit down still you lot might want to rethink your visit until they've outgrown the running for no reason phase. I wish I had remembered that before we went.

If yous stay at a hotel around the harbor in that location are tons of restaurants all over so y'all're bound to find something you similar. There is a Cheesecake Mill right on Pratt Street and they take everything, don't they?

Overall thoughts on Bluish Moon Buffet : If your kids will sit down even so so yes, go!

If you're interested in some other great places to swallow here are a few more nosotros visited and would recommend: Bubba Gumps (Inner Harbor), Cheesecake Mill (Inner Harbor) (not bad if yous need somewhere child-friendly) Alexander's Tavern (Savage's Point), Rusty Scupper (Inner Harbor) (wouldn't recommend for kids)
